Marsh, Guy Carpenter y JLT Combinarán sus Operaciones de Reaseguro Facultativo en Latinoamérica
Marsh, líder global en correduría de seguros y soluciones innovadoras de gestión de riesgos, y Guy Carpenter, firma líder en riesgos globales y reaseguro, ambas subsidiarias de Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), han anunciado que, sujetos a las aprobaciones regulatorias necesarias, combinarían sus operaciones de reaseguro facultativo en Latinoamérica, incluyendo las de Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT), firma adquirida por MMC el pasado 1 de abril de 2019.
El negocio combinado tomará el nombre de Carpenter Marsh Fac Re. Carpenter Marsh Fac Re se convertiría en la líder del mercado latinoamericano en intermediación de reaseguro facultativo, mejorando el servicio a sus clientes a través de una poderosa plataforma con mayor capacidad de análisis y datos y expandiendo las relaciones con los mercados de seguros.
Carpenter Marsh Fac Re estará liderada por Andrew Perry, actualmente líder de la división internacional de Mercer Marsh Beneficios (MMB), como CEO de la operación. El Sr. Perry estará radicado en Miami y reportará a Dean Klisura, presidente global del área de colocación de Marsh (Placement), y a Ricardo Brockmann, CEO de Marsh Latinoamérica y el Caribe.
Previamente, antes de asumir su cargo en MMB en 2014, el Sr. Perry fue líder regional en Marsh Latinoamérica de las prácticas de Grandes Riesgos (Risk Management) y de Clientes y Desarrollo de Negocio, con sede en Buenos Aires. Juan Carlos Gómez, actual líder de Guy Carpenter en Colombia, fungirá como CEO adjunto (Deputy CEO), reportando al Sr. Perry y con sede en Bogotá. “Al combinar la oferta de reaseguro facultativo de Marsh y Guy Carpenter con la de JLT podremos brindar, tanto a los aseguradores como a los compradores de seguros, una forma mucho más eficiente de acceder a los mercados globales de reaseguros”, dijo James Nash, CEO Internacional de Guy Carpenter.
El reaseguro facultativo es parte integral de numerosas modalidades de reaseguro de las compañías aseguradoras, que lo utilizan con frecuencia para gestionar su exposición a la acumulación de riesgos en determinadas áreas/países. Además, en muchos países de la región, las regulaciones locales sobre colocaciones de seguros establecen que el reaseguro facultativo se utilice a menudo para acceder a capacidades aseguradoras que permitan transferir riesgos complejos o de gran valor, cuando estas capacidades no están disponibles en los mercados locales.

Marsh, Guy Carpenter and JLT Will Combine their Facultative Reinsurance Operations in Latin America
Marsh, a global leader in insurance brokerage and innovative risk management solutions, and Guy Carpenter, a leading global risk and reinsurance firm, both subsidiaries of Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), announced that they would combine their facultative reinsurance operations in Latin America, including those of the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT), a firm acquired by MMC on April 1, 2019.
The combined business will take the name of Carpenter Marsh Fac Re. Carpenter Marsh Fac Re would become the leader in the Latin American market in intermediation of facultative reinsurance, improving the service to its clients through a powerful platform with greater capacity for analysis and data and expanding relations with the insurance markets.
Carpenter Marsh Fac Re will be led by Andrew Perry, currently leading the international division of Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB), as CEO of the operation. Mr. Perry will be based in Miami and will report to Dean Klisura, global president of the Marsh placement area (Placement), and Ricardo Brockmann, CEO of Marsh Latin America and the Caribbean.
Previously, before assuming his position at MMB in 2014, Mr. Perry was the regional leader at Marsh Latin America in the practices of Large Risks (Risk Management) and Clients and Business Development, based in Buenos Aires. Juan Carlos Gómez, current leader of Guy Carpenter in Colombia, will serve as deputy CEO, reporting to Mr. Perry and based in Bogotá. "By combining the Marsh and Guy Carpenter facultative reinsurance offer with JLT, we can provide insurers and insurance buyers with a much more efficient way to access the global reinsurance markets," said James Nash, International CEO of Guy Carpenter.
Optional reinsurance is an integral part of numerous reinsurance modalities of insurance companies, which frequently use it to manage their exposure to the accumulation of risks in certain areas / countries. In addition, in many countries of the region, local regulations on insurance placements establish that facultative reinsurance is often used to access insurance capabilities that allow the transfer of complex or high-value risks when these capabilities are not available in local markets.
