Gino Smith de AXA XL Se Une a AXIS Re como Jefe de Propiedad, EMEA LatAm
Gino Smith se ha unido a AXIS Re, el brazo de reaseguros de AXIS Capital Holdings Limited de Bermudas, como Jefe de Propiedad para EMEA LatAm, a partir de noviembre de 2019. Ocupará su nuevo cargo en Zúrich e informará al presidente de EMEA LatAm, Andy Hottinger.
Smith supervisará la operación de Property Treaty del reasegurador en Europa, Medio Oriente y África, y también en América Latina. Se une después de 19 años con AXA XL Re, y recientemente se desempeñó como Jefe de Propiedad Retro para International Re y Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) de XL Re Europe SE, con sede en Zurich.
Anteriormente se desempeñó como CUO de XL Re Latin America, con sede en Sao Paulo, y ha ocupado varios puestos de suscripción progresivamente senior para XL Re en Argentina, Colombia, México y Bermudas. Comenzó su carrera en Argentina como suscriptor del Tratado de Propiedad.

AXA XL’s Gino Smith Joins AXIS Re as Head of Property, EMEA LatAm
Gino Smith has joined AXIS Re, the reinsurance arm of Bermuda’s AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, as Head of Property for EMEA LatAm, effective November 2019. In his new role he will be based in Zurich and will report to President of EMEA LatAm, Andy Hottinger.
Smith will take oversight of the reinsurer’s Property Treaty reinsurance operation in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and also Latin America. He joins after 19 years with AXA XL Re, most recently serving as Head of Property Retro for International Re and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of XL Re Europe SE, based in Zurich.
He previously served as CUO of XL Re Latin America, based in Sao Paolo, and has held a number of progressively senior underwriting roles for XL Re in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Bermuda. He started his career in Argentina as a Property Treaty underwriter.
Commenting on Smith’s appointment, Hottinger said: “Gino is a talented underwriter with a diverse professional background and underwriting experience that spans multiple geographies, including Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States. He is well-respected by his peers and brings leadership and people skills that will benefit our EMEA LatAm Property reinsurance team and our clients.”
